As the holidays are among us it’s important to take a moment and reflect on the things we are grateful for. Everyone has a number of things they can think of and today I’ll be sharing why anime plays a huge role in my life and why I’m grateful for it.
Reflection Over The Holidays
As Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is vastly approaching there is no better time to reflect on this year and everything you’re grateful for. Today I’ll talk about why I’m grateful for anime.
Growing up you come to a certain point where you explore a number of activities that may or may not become a new hobby. Whether it be sports, performing arts or music – you stumble upon something that resonates with you. I dabble in a few things – ballet, tap dancing, piano and violin. Reading, writing and painting are things I enjoy as well. I try to be as well-rounded as possible.
First Encounter With Anime
When I first came across anime it blew my mind. It was different from the cartoons I was used to seeing. Some of the anime I was introduced to (aside from Pokemon, Digimon and Dragonball Z) were Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, .hack//SIGN and Wolf’s Rain. The stories were compelling, the animation was great and the character development for some were just so good.
Anime began to play a huge role in my life the more I got into drawing. I went to it as reference for drawing eyes, limbs, hair, etc. It was fun to practice different styles and developing my own style in the process. Anime is something I became more engrossed in as I discovered new genres and even more titles. My new found love for anime introduced me to others who loved it just as much – a number of them are some of my good friends now.
I can go on about the many ways anime has shaped my life. The two biggest things are further inspiring me to pursue art and making friends. So when it comes to anime, I’m forever grateful. Thank you so much for reading and let me know why you’re grateful for anime!
